What an incredible trip. First vacation in a year. I couldn’t believe it. 3 weeks in Europe. Started in Sitges for Bear Week which was absolutely incredible. Definitely not your typical gay event.
Then on to Barcelona which as a tourist, doing typical touristy things, wasn’t all that remarkable but I could definitely tell the city is a place I’d like to live. I’m definitely going back.
Next was the South of France and the various beautiful cities there. Antibes was the first stop and my home base to visit a dear friend. Antibes was very unexpectedly good. Very beautiful and excellent food. I could definitely spend a week there just to relax and experience France at its finest. A very young city as this city is the capitol of yachting in France and one of the biggest yachting ports in Europe so there’s A LOT of yachties there. Monaco was a much as well. It’s gorgeous. Mothing more than beautiful really, but a must stop anyway. A short trip to Cannes, which I wouldn’t mind visiting again. It’s beautiful and expectedly more busy and more city-like than Antibes for obvious reasons. Another short trip to Nice (my second time there) to go out as it’s really the only city in the South of France that is good for gay nightlife. I really love Nice. It feels like pre-Euro Paris to me. Much more relaxed scene than Paris but equally as fun for me.
Next big stop, Paris! Yay! Even though the city has changed dramatically over the 25 years I’ve been traveling here, it’s still…well…Paris. I don’t think much more needs to be said than that frankly.
Last stop on the trip, London. This is one of my favorite cities in the world. Something about the culture here draws me in. Very different than Paris of course. But nonetheless one of my favorite places to visit.
